Approach to training

The English Bulldog is not a difficult dog to train, a positive training with cheerful rewards always does well. They are sensitive to the voice (and mood) of the owner and respond in a good manner. It helps to speak to your bulldog in a friendly and calm way. This dog breed should not be treated too harshly. However, you should be careful that he does not take advantage of the situation, so staying consistent is important.

A quiet training is sufficient, as English Bulldogs do not like too much running and are not capable of running very fast (although they do for food).

Dog sports

Agility, flyball and obedience are possible with the English Bulldog. However, it remains to be seen whether the Bulldog himself enjoys this, as they are not very sporty.

English Bulldogs are suitable for owners who:

  • Are not into sports and do not prefer like long walks
  • Are looking for a small but powerful do
  • Prefer a dog that requires little grooming.
