French Bulldog

The French Bulldog is a true companion dog and likes to belong to a family. Because of the short snout, the bulldog heats up quickly and can’t always lose his warmth quickly. They can be very turbulent but often also very sweet and affectionate, they are about 25 to 35cm high.

Colour

The coat of the French Bulldog consists of smooth, shiny short hair. The colour of a French Bulldog’s coat can be brindle, white with atomised spots and fawn.

Approach to training

French Bulldogs are fast learners as they are very intelligent dogs. However, they can be very headstrong and determined to have its own way , so it is important to act consistently when training your pet. Training with a lot of rewards and cheerfulness often works best for this dog, they also love attention. In warm weather it is often best to take it easy during training because of their short snout. These dogs are very sensible to their surroundings, such as the voice of its owner.

Dog sports

Agility and flyball is possible but is usually a bit strenuous for the French Bulldog because of the high jumps the dog has to make. However, French Bulldogs are very good show dogs.

French Bulldogs are suitable for owners who:

  • Are looking for a small but faithful companion
  • Have a lot of spare time and plenty attention to give
  • Love to take their dog on the road
