SANIMED  Senior Cat is a complete food for cats over 8 years old.

In older cats, it is important to maintain condition and to minimise loss of function. SANIMED Senior Cat uses specially selected ingredients, making it suitable for all cat breeds.

Like all SANIMED products, SANIMED Senior Cat has been formulated to promote a long and healthy life. SANIMED Senior reduces the risk of the most common causes of death or euthanasia, such as urinary tract disorders, kidney failure, heart failure, diabetes mellitus and cancer. Thanks to high quality raw materials, the diet is easy to digest. Due to a lower protein content, the liver and kidneys are put under less strain.

Disorders:

Even older cats can get urinary disorders caused by urinary crystals or bladder stones. As well as struvite, older cats may have problems with oxalate. Oxalate is another form or urinary crystal, which occurs primarily in older cats. Preventing the formation of both forms of urinary crystal can be achieved by lowering the urinary pH, and using a diet with low concentrations of struvite-forming components (magnesium, ammonium, phosphate).

After urinary crystals, kidney failure is one of the most common disorders in cats, and occurs in 30% of cats over the age of 15. Unfortunately, this damage is beyond repair. Cats' kidneys (just like those of humans) have plenty of spare capacity. Only when more than 70% of the kidney is affected will symptoms appear.

A good healthy diet reduces the risk of these disorders. SANIMED Senior Cat lowers urinary pH and contains low levels of struvite-forming components. It contains less protein to relieve strain on the kidneys, and the low content of phosphorus and the high content of polyunsaturated Omega-3 fatty acids reduce the risk of kidney failure.
