- Scalibor Protectorband - L - 65cm £17.75
The Scalibor Protectorband dog collar offers five to six months of protection against ticks, sandflies, mosquitoes and flies that carry heartworm larvae by preventing them from latching on to your dog and sucking blood. The active ingredient in Scalibor Protectorband is 4% Deltamethrin.
Long lasting, effective protection
The odourless Scalibor Protectorband helps fight and defend against blood sucking by sandflies and heartworms and also defends against ticks. The band also prevents against the (deadly) diseases transmitted by these parasites. The Scalibor Protectorband is effective for 5 to 6 months. The Scalibor tick collar can be cut to size as needed.
Please note: The Scalibor Protectorband packaging has been renewed. The packaging is the only aspect of this item that has changed and the product inside it has remained the same.
Safe for humans and dogs
The Scalibor Protectorband is safe for both dogs and humans, but not for cats. The Scalibor tick collar may also be worn by pregnant dogs and puppies from seven weeks old. The band is waterproof so your dog can still swim and go for walks in the rain. Thanks to the consistent friction against the fur and skin, the active substance is continuously released. This then spreads through the upper layer of the skin. It doesn't matter whether your dog is short or long haired. The band is most effective after about two weeks.
- Scalibor S/M is 48 cm
- Scalibor L is 65 cm
Tip: Does your dog or cat have ticks? Remove them with the O'Tom Tick Twister .
It is important that the collar touches your pet's skin as this allows the active ingredient to spread through the body, using the skin's sebum. The band has been placed properly once you can fit two fingers snugly between the band and your dog's neck. Make sure there is not too much hair between the collar and the skin as this can have a negative effect on the collar's performance.
The level of sebum in older dog's skin is lower than in that of younger dogs, which means the distribution of the active ingredient in Scalibor could be less effective. Although this may slow down the rate of distribution, ticks will still be killed within 48 hours. This is also true for dogs that swim or are washed often.
It takes approximately one week for the band to reach full functionality. For this reason, it is advisable to put the band on your dog a week before exposing them to areas densely populated by ticks. It is possible for ticks to break through the protecive barrier created by the band, particularly in areas with a high tick population. Unfortunately, there are no flea or tick products that are 100% efficient so it is very important that you check your dog for ticks on a daily basis and remove them properly should you find any.

The Scalibor collars have been a godsend for our two dogs as ticks are rife in Occitanie at the moment (Spring) We check after every walk and although ticks leap onto them they die and fall off before attacking.
Worth every penny to know our dogs are protected.
