SureFlap Microchip Door Design
This door has been designed for large felines. Dimensions are 262 x 281mm. The door itself measures 178 x 170 mm – giving ample room for your pets to navigate in and out. The SureFlap Door boasts a solid white plastic casing complete with an LCD screen with controls located just beneath the flap. Entry and exit are controlled by the chip.
In order to function, the entire system needs four C-type batteries. For those who want to mount the Door on glass, there are accessories you can purchase to help with that. For those wanting to place the cat flap through a wall, additional tunnel extenders are required.
Once you’ve got the flap installed, the hub is the last part of the system that needs to be connected to your home’s internet via Ethernet. The hub is a device that communicates with both the newly installed Door and yourself. This means it should be within close proximity of the Door itself. If things are fine, it glows green, if there’s a communication problem somewhere, the hub glows red.
Programming the Microchip
Once the door has been installed, the next step is programming the flap. This involves the Door recording every microchip of any animal that enters through the door. If your furry friend is stubborn and won’t go through the door, lure it with a few treats. Once your animal friends have been scanned, the Pet Door will now only allow those animals whose chips were registered for entry. It might take a few days for your pet(s) to get used to using the entryway, but with time, they’ll get used to it.
