Character

The Burmilla combines the energy of the Burmese with the gentle nature of the Persian. This rare breed is friendly and easy-going. The Burmilla loves to meow, but this isn’t loud. The coat requires simple care.

Appearance

Colour

The ends of the hairs are coloured in black, blue, lilac, red, cream or chocolate. The base colour is silver or gold. The back and tail are darker than the belly.

Body, legs and tail

The body of the Burmilla is compact. The chest is broad and round. The width of the shoulders and hips is the same. Burmillas have very strong bones and powerful muscles. The hind legs of this breed are longer than the front legs. The medium-sized feet can be round or oval-shaped. The Burmilla has a medium to long tail with a medium thickness. The tail tapers to a rounded point.

Head, ears and eyes

Burmillas have a rounded, medium-sized head. The face is broad and tapers into a blunt, short triangle. The cheeks are round and full. The snout is broad and short. The area above the eyebrows has less hair. The Burmilla’s ears are medium in size and are rounded at the end. They stand wide apart and bend slightly forward. Burmillas have large, widely spaced eyes. The eyes are tilted slightly obliquely. The eyes are usually green. With a red, cream or black/red coloured coat, amber eyes are also allowed.

Coat

The coat of the Burmilla is short-haired and slightly longer than a Burmese’s coat. The coat is shiny, fine and silky. The undercoat allows the coat to stand out from the body.
