Character

The Oriental Longhair is a lively, playful cat with a lot of energy. He has a strong personality. He is somewhat calmer and more composed than the Oriental Shorthair. This social cat gets along well with others of his kind but is somewhat distant towards strangers. The Oriental Longhair is very attached to its owner. He does not like to be alone. The Oriental Longhair is very talkative. The care of his coat is very simple.

All colours are allowed in the Oriental Longhair. Chocolat and lilac are preferred.

Body, legs and tail

Oriental Longhairs have a medium-sized, long and slender body. The bones are fine and the muscles are strong. The legs are long and the hind legs are longer than the front legs. The feet are oval and small. The tail is very long and has a nice long coat.

Head, ears and eyes

The head of the Oriental Longhair is long and triangular. The forehead is flat. It has a fine snout with a straight, long nose. The chin is firm. Its ears are very large but in proportion to the head. The Oriental Longhair has medium-sized, almond-shaped eyes which are slanted. The eye colour is usually green. White cats have blue eyes.

Coat

Oriental Longhairs have a long, fine, flat-lying coat. The undercoat is thin. The hair is shorter on the head and shoulders than on the body.

Weight

The weight of the Oriental Longhair is between 4.5 to 6 kg.
