Sokoke

The Sokoke is very rare and is also known as the African Shorthair. The ancestors of this cat lived in the trees of the Sokoke Forest. The Sokoke is named after this forest. Even though this breed has ancestors descended from a wild animal, the Sokoke is a social house cat that gets along well with dogs and other cats. He loves being active and is a great hunter, swimmer and climber.

The recognised colour of the Sokoke is brown tabby bloched. This marbled tabby is brown with black markings on an agouti background. All cats of the Sokoke breed have a tail that is black on the end. Both light and dark stripes occur on the coat.
