Product Description

Dettol is an antiseptic and disinfectant for cleaning wounds, skin and hands, but which also comes in very useful for stables, floors, tables, litter trays, kennels, grooming equipment, etc. Chloroxylenol has been available for many years on the international market as an anti-microbial agent. It can be obtained without a prescription under the brand name Dettol. It is available as a concentrated solution to be diluted with water before use on the skin.

What is Dettol and how can it be used?

Use on humans: Skin can become infected with bacteria, especially if it is damaged, such as often happens with eczema, sores, cuts and shaving nicks. Chloroxylenol fights various types of bacteria. It destroys the cell walls of bacteria, eventually killing them. In the case of lightly infected abrasions or cuts you can use Dettol to disinfect the skin. You can also use it as a preventative to discourage infection, or for disinfecting hands.

Use on pets: The use of Dettol as a disinfection of lightly infected abrasions or cuts on animals is discouraged. There is a chance that your pet can lick and ingulf the substance, while Dettol is not meant to be taken in orally.

Environment Cleaner

For cleaning stables, kennels etc., mix Dettol with warm water.

How should I use Dettol?

First dilute the product with water (typically 1 part Dettol to 30 parts water) and apply it to the infected area with a cotton ball or clean cloth. Avoid contact with the eyes and do not allow it to get into the mouth or nose, as this may cause irritation. If it gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with water.

Please note

To prevent health problems in cats it is important that you thoroughly rinse the surface. Also make sure that you allow cleaned surfaces to dry fully and ventilate rooms before the animals return to them. Avoid oral intake.
