Pigeon food

Whether you want to support the wild pigeons in your garden or keep pigeons for racing, the diet your pigeon eats helps it perform better and live a healthy life. The type of feed you choose depends on the pigeon’s age, the season, how active it is, whether it is moulting and whether your pigeon is breeding.

Seed mixes

Seed mixes provide a balanced blend of different grains and seeds. These mixes contain plenty of fibre, vitamins and proteins. These nutrients are very important for your pigeon’s growth and health.

Organic feed

The advantage of organic feed is that your pigeon ingests fewer pesticide residues left in the product, which will harm your pigeon’s health over time.

Pigeon grit

Pigeon grit serves as a supplement to your pigeon’s standard feed. Grit meets the need for additional minerals, calcium and small gastric stones. Grit supports optimal digestion and the absorption of nutrients.

Feed by season

Winter: calorie-dense feed with high fat and energy levels. In winter, pigeons need a high calorie intake to build their energy reserves and keep warm.

Spring/summer: feed rich in vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates. During the breeding season, pigeons need nutritious feed, for example a seed mix that is high in carbohydrates, combined with supplements to top up proteins and vitamins.

Autumn: to prepare for winter, pigeons need feed that is rich in fats, minerals and extra vitamins. This can strengthen the immune system and help pigeons cope better with the cold months.
