Product Description
Chevivit E-Selen
Chevivit E-Selen is an oral gel for horses with a deficiency of Selenium, Vitamin E and Omega-3 fatty acids.
Chevivit E-Selen provides an improved organic availability of active substances, allowing the ingredients to be readily absorbed and easily used by the animal.
A horse can ingest most of the vitamins and minerals it needs from roughage and/or produce its own. However, vitamin E is often lacking from an equine diet. It is present in grass but not in hay, especially when the hay is not fresh. So horses which do not have access to pasture and feed on hay will often be deficient in this crucial vitamin. Selenium is known to exist in many European grasslands but less and less is now being found in the soil. The result is that there may not be enough of it in grass or hay.
Key features
Vitamin E and Selenium are important for muscle function and fertility in horses. They are also needed for the removal of muscle waste products (e.g. lactic acid). In addition, vitamin E contributes to skin health, wound healing and eye health, especially moisture in the cornea. When a horse is deficient in Selenium and/or vitamin E, it shows deterioration of muscle (both skeletal and cardiac) and the immune system is weakened. Muscle stiffness and sluggish recovery after exercise are the most apparent symptoms of these deficiencies. Conversely, symptoms of an overdose of selenium include hair loss in the mane and tail and horizontal cracks in the hoof, starting at the heel.
Vitamin E and selenium work together for optimal functionality of the equine body, one cannot be properly effective without the other. For this reason, this supplement combines both in one treatment.
Care of muscles
Vitamin E and selenium help the body to remove lactic acid, which is produced during muscular exertion. The discharge of lactic acid helps in the prevention of muscle stiffness. Vitamin E also improves condition and fertility and is therefore ideal for sport horses and breeding horses.
Applications
- To reduce muscle stiffness
- To improve load capacity and sporting performance
- Acts as an antioxidant and removes free radicals that can damage the body's cells
Practical and economical
Horses find the supplement Chevivit E-Selen quite palatable so it is easy to introduce to their diet. The handy applicator is accurate, easy to use and will administer the correct dosage without too much wastage. When used daily, one packet can last a good four months ensuring a good price/quantity ratio.
Dosage
Each dose contains 1000 mg Vitamin E acetate and 2.5 mg of selenium. Pump 2 ml per day directly into the horse's mouth or introduce to its feed. Do not exceed the recommended daily dosage. Overdosing of vitamin E is not beneficial and is unnecessary.
