When does a dog need extra magnesium?

Dogs with an increased need for magnesium may benefit from additional support, such as:

  • Dogs in stressful situations (travelling, fireworks, moving house)
  • Sporting and working dogs with high physical demands
  • Senior dogs, where natural absorption may decrease
  • Muscle tremors, stiffness or nervousness, where magnesium deficiency may play a role

Magnesium helps keep the body and muscles relaxed, both mentally and physically.

A commonly used and easily absorbed form is magnesium citrate, as found in Groene Os Magnesium Citrate for Dogs & Cats. It’s often used to support muscles, joints and the nervous system. It helps promote muscle relaxation and contributes to the overall wellbeing of active or sensitive dogs.

Many supplements also contain magnesium stearate or magnesium oxide. These are inactive forms of magnesium and do not affect the magnesium level in your dog’s body.
