Exo Terra River Sand is a natural sand substrate without added dyes or chemicals, shaped in an African river. Thanks to the extremely fine and round sand grains, it is ideal for aquatic turtles, especially softshell turtles that love digging and burrowing. The soft sand prevents damage to skin tissue, which occurs more quickly with coarser substrates like gravel. If accidentally ingested, this fine sand can be easily passed, making it safer than gravel or pebbles. Water and bottom-dwelling reptiles such as frogs and salamanders also benefit from the soft texture. The substrate creates a natural and attractive bottom for aquatic terrariums. Additionally, it can also be used as a substrate in desert terrariums.
