Product Description
Hill's k/d - Kidney Care - Prescription Diet
Protein content is reduced, and of very high quality, reducing the accumulation of toxic proteins while still complying with essential dietary requirements. Sodium content is reduced to control blood pressure and reduce fluid retention. Phosphorus content is reduced to slow the progression of kidney disease, and an increased amount of Vitamin B complex supplements losses through urine. In addition, an increased amount of soluble fibre reduces ammonia absorption in the intestine and urea content in the blood. The superior antioxidant formula reduces oxidative cell damage, supporting renal function.
Also available in Hill's k/d Kidney Care - Prescription Diet - Canine wet food.
Kidney disease in dogs
Kidney disease (Kidney failure or renal insufficiency) can have many different causes, and can lead to a wide range of unpleasant and even life-threatening symptoms in your dog. Kidney disease can be sudden (acute) or develop gradually (chronic). Kidney disease may be caused by other diseases or changes in health. Breed and heredity can be contributing factors, as well as nutrition. The signs of kidney disease often only show when more than two-thirds of kidney function has already been lost.
