Why clip a horse?
There are several reasons why a horse is clipped. This may be related to the horse’s health, daily comfort during training or work, or the desired appearance.
Medical
In some cases, clipping has a medical reason. Some horses have skin conditions where locally removing the coat makes treatment easier, such as with pastern dermatitis.
Care
In addition, care plays an important role. Many horses are clipped because they sweat less, dry faster and remain more comfortable during work or training.
Appearance
Appearance can also be a reason to clip a horse. Especially for show horses, the coat is neatly trimmed with clippers so that the horse looks well-groomed during competitions. This includes trimming the legs or whiskers.
