The Pezz DNA Breed Test Dog is an at-home test that gives you more insight into your dog's genetic background. Using DNA analysis, it examines which dog breeds are present in your dog's DNA. The analysis is carried out in a specialised laboratory where the DNA is examined and compared with more than 400 dog breeds and provides a percentage overview of your dog's likely breed mix. How does the DNA test work?
Using the Pezz DNA Breed Test is simple:
- Activate the test: activate the DNA test via pezz.life/start by scanning the code on the inside of the packaging and confirming your email address. This links the test to your pet and you will receive the return label.
- Take a DNA sample: preferably take the sample in the morning before feeding. Your dog should not eat for about two hours before the test.
Carefully open the packaging on the "OPEN" side and take out one brush. Then rub the brush for 45 to 60 seconds between your dog's cheek and upper jaw. This time is important to collect enough DNA material. Touch the tip of the brush as little as possible to prevent contamination. Then place the brush in a clean glass and let it dry for at least 8 hours in a place out of direct sunlight. Repeat this with the second brush on the other side of the mouth.
- Send the sample: after drying, place both brushes back in the packaging and put it in the included plastic bag. Seal the packaging, attach the return label and send the sample back to the laboratory.
Once the sample has been received, you will receive a confirmation by email. The results are usually available digitally within 5 to 6 weeks.
