So far this salt lick holder has proved to be just what was needed. The holder has drain holes which allow water to escape. I have a couple of horses that really like to eat the lick with their teeth. They now need to lick it and therefore the salt lick has remained in one piece for much longer! I now wait to see how the lick fares as it becomes very thin. It looks very promising and I am hopeful that the salt lick will remain useable for far longer than one in a vertical lick holder. An excellent product.
