We use this product alongside a stool softener we also buy from this site which between them, have made an enormous difference to his regularity. Neither were suggested by the vet after a very expensive visit. If your cat has megacolon it’s worth trying AA Laxulon plus the psyllium.

Product Information
Puur Psyllium
Psyllium is considered one of the best sources of fibre. Fibre supports healthy bowel movement. Psyllium helps to soften the intestinal content when given with water or extra moist food. If you give it directly or mixed with regular food when your pet has loose stools, it helps to firm the stool.
In addition to supporting loose and hard stools, Psyllium can also benefit sensitive intestines. Scientific studies have shown that hairballs in a cat's stomach (and sometimes in dogs) can naturally be excreted through the use of Psyllium. Adding Psyllium promotes good intestinal function.
Puur Psyllium for dogs and cats
Psyllium is suitable for both dogs and cats. Psyllium for dogs supports your dog’s intestinal function, helps maintain a feeling of fullness and supports blood sugar levels. Psyllium for cats can be used in the same way as for dogs. For cats, it is also ideal to help with the removal of hairballs. The 150 g pack is most suitable for dogs and cats. This version includes a 2 g measuring scoop, making it easy to dose.
Puur Psyllium for horses
Puur Psyllium for horses is suitable for horses and ponies. It can be used, just like for dogs and cats, to support the intestines and to help create a feeling of fullness. It also supports horses that ingest sand. Horses can swallow sand by eating grass, hay, or feed from the ground, which may lead to digestive issues. In this situation, you can feed your horse Psyllium to help remove sand from the gut. If sand ingestion is suspected, repeat the Psyllium course. The 350 g pack is the most suitable for horses due to their higher daily dosage.
In short
- Suitable for dogs, cats and horses
- Supports bowel movement
- For both loose and firm stools
- Helpful for sand ingestion
- Detoxifying
- Contains only the husks of psyllium seeds
How to use Puur Psyllium
For loose stools, mix this product with food or dilute with a little water and administer directly into the mouth using a plastic syringe.
For hard stools, give with some extra water or moist food. Administer Puur Psyllium once or twice daily in the dosage shown below. Once you see improvement, switch to a maintenance dose, usually half the normal dosage. An initially higher dosage may be required. Gradually reduce the dose as the condition improves. It is important not to give Puur Psyllium simultaneously with other medicines or supplements. Psyllium fibres have strong absorbent properties and may affect the absorption of other substances. Therefore, give Puur Psyllium at least 1–2 hours before or 2–3 hours after administering other medication or health products.
Dosage for dogs and cats
Give Psyllium for dogs and cats once or twice daily. The amount depends on the weight of your pet. One measuring scoop contains about 2 grams.
Dosage Puur Psyllium Dog/Cat Weight Dosage (1–2 times daily) < 10 kg 0.5 scoop 10 to 25 kg 1 scoop > 25 kg 1.5 scoops 1 scoop = 2 grams.
Dosage for horses
The dosage for horses and ponies is once daily. Horses receive 3 scoops per day and ponies 2 scoops per day. One scoop equals approximately 10 grams.
Dosage Puur Psyllium Horse Weight Dosage (once daily) Pony 2 scoops Horse 3 scoops 1 scoop = 10 grams.
Note: The measuring scoop in the 150 g pack has a capacity of 2 grams, while the scoop in the 350 g pack holds 10 grams. Therefore, we recommend the smaller pack for dogs and cats, and the larger one for ponies and horses. Have you already bought a small pack before? You can simply keep using the same measuring scoop when switching to a larger pack.
Composition
100% Psyllium Husk (blonde). Puur Psyllium contains only the active component—the husk of the psyllium seed, not the whole seed. The composition for dogs/cats and horses is the same. The difference is only in pack size, as the daily dosage for horses is much higher. For regular use, you may also choose the larger 350 g pack for your dog or cat.

Sorted out jippy tummyBy Jasmine, Sunday 23 February 2025Puur Psyllium - 150 g
Our vet recommended we get this for our cat as he was displaying diarrhoea symptoms and didn't have any medical concerns following tests. After just a few days of putting a half scoop into his breakfast, poops have firmed right up so this is a great product and highly recommend!

Great productBy Frances Chaloner, Monday 29 January 2024Puur Psyllium - 150 g
My vet advised this for my dog who has anal gland issues , and refuses to take some granules for it. The improvements were immediate in the stool which are better formed and easier to pass. The powder does not seem to put her off her food either and it is easy to sprinkle over it The product is very efficacious and does what it is supposed to do very soon indeed. The item came reasonably quickly and was well package the facility to be able to track it was very helpful and I was kept informed of progress. I would highly recommend this product and the supplier. I will be purchasing from them again once I am out.
