Turtle food

Good nutrition supports growth, resilience and a healthy shell. Turtles differ greatly in what they need. Aquatic turtles mainly eat animal-based food and benefit from floating or sinking feed, while terrestrial turtles primarily eat plant-based food with a high fibre content. Pay attention to the life stage, the balance between protein, fat and fibre, the presence of calcium and vitamins, and the feeding method. Also consider portion size, feeding frequency and water quality, so that nutrition and environment reinforce each other.

Basic nutrition per type of turtle

For aquatic turtles, a complete floating staple food is practical, as it allows you to monitor intake easily and remove leftovers without difficulty. An example is Tetra ReptoMin Sticks, with a balanced composition for daily use. If you are looking for a compact, complete pellet, Arcadia Freshly-Pressed Turtle Food is a suitable option.

Variety and dietary supplementation

Variety supports appetite and natural foraging behaviour. For example, you can offer Tetra ReptoDelica Shrimps as a protein-rich variation. Adequate calcium remains essential for strong bones and a healthy shell. With a supplementary product such as Tetra ReptoCal, you can specifically complement the mineral profile, especially during growth, egg production or periods of limited sunlight.
