    Food hypersensitivity

Food hypersensitivity means that your cat is allergic or intolerant to certain ingredients in its food. This can be treated with special diet foods containing ingredients to which the cat will not have a hypersensitive reaction. The food hypersensitivity diagnosis is made based on the results of an elimination diet. Such a diet is sometimes referred to as hypoallergenic, and includes a single protein and a single source of carbohydrates which are known to rarely cause a hypersensitive reaction.

Key features of TROVET Hypoallergenic VRD (Venison) Cat

TROVET Hypoallergenic VRD (Venison) Cat contains a single protein source (venison) and a single carbohydrate source (rice). This should be the only food your cat eats for a period of 3-8 weeks. This diet prevents immunological reactions (food allergy), or non-immunological reactions (food intolerance) in the form of skin complaints and/or gastrointestinal complaints. Please note that not all complaints will immediately diminish or disappear. For example, skin conditions will only improve gradually. If symptoms reduce or disappear, an intolerance can be diagnosed. TROVET Hypoallergenic VRD (Venison) Cat also contains all of the vitamins and minerals your cat needs from day to day in optimal quantities.

    Recommended for

    • Food allergy
    • Food intolerance

TROVET Hypoallergenic VRD (Venison) is also suitable for kittens with these conditions.

    Not suitable for

Animals with a hypersensitivity to venison protein

    Use

Initially, the recommended treatment duration is 3 to 8 weeks. If symptoms disappear, the diet can be continued indefinitely. Strict observance of this diet is very important for a successful diagnosis.

Composition of TROVET Hypoallergenic VRD (Venison) Cat:

Meat and animal derivatives (venison), cereals (rice), oils and fats (sunflower oil, olive oil), vegetable products (guar gum), minerals.

    Snacks

TROVET Hypoallergenic VRD (Venison) Cat can be combined with Multi Purpose Treats (Fish). Please note: This does not apply during the elimination phase.

  • My cat would not eat this
    By Sue , Friday 31 August 2018

My cat attempted to eat some but walked away almost immediately. No matter how many times I refreshed his bowl he completely ignored it. I might just have well thrown £25.70 inc £3.95 delivery charge in the bin, which is exactly where most of this product ended up. Total waste of money. I'm not sure whether it was the taste or the texture that he didn't like.

  • Not right for my cat
By Anna Jones, Thursday 22 June 2017

Have tried countless hypoallergenic products for my cat, all to no avail. Hills prescription D/D seemed to help but they discontinued it overnight and I was left with no substitute. Had great hopes with this product, but alas did not cure the runny stools. Have now gone back to Hills prescription I/D with a small amount of z/d which seems to help a little but it looks like my beautiful cat will never be quite right.

  • Couldn't be happier
    By Nicola , Tuesday 1 August 2017

My cat has Inflammatory Bowel Disease and has had Hills Prescription D/D for years. I was very anxious when it was discontinued. My vet suggested Trovet. After a very slow weaning process, it couldn't be going better. She loves the food and her symptoms have shown a big improvement too. She's much happier and more playful. At this early stage, I couldn't be more relieved and pleased.

  • Gave my cat diahreah

Only fed my cat two tins as she reacted to it badly

  • Excellent find
By Sarah, Tuesday 26 September 2017

My cat has IBS and could not keep normal cat food down. I put her on Hill's dry venison product and she recovered but was so bored. Begged for wet food. Tried this product weaning her very slowly onto it. She adores it and has fully regained her weight and health. Thankyou.
