Yora’s origin

Tom Neish has been working in the pet industry as a designer and product developer for over 20 years giving him a wealth of knowledge on what makes good pet food and how much people care about the well-being of their pets. Tom became concerned about the rise of “human-grade” meat in pet food. These premium pet food are great products, but is it wise to feed so much meat to our pets during this time of global warming and resource depletion? Unfortunately, pet diets aren’t exactly great for the environment.

Which is why Tom went looking for an alternative and reached out to the world’s greatest experts in animal nutrition and entomophagy  (the study of edible insects). After much research, he discovered the Hermetia illucens larvea as the most nutritious and environmentally friendly option. That’s how Tom begin a collaboration with Protix, a high tech company focussed on insects that wanted to produce the larvae for Yora. Tom also works with Will Bisset, who has encyclopaedic knowledge of animal nutrition and a degree in biology with an emphasis on animal physiology and cellular biology.

If we manage to switch all pets in the world from meat to insects, we will make a huge positive change for the future of our planet!

Yora Dog Food

It has been known for a while now that insects are part of the natural diet of dogs and cats, as the also hunt insects as a food source in the wild. It’s an important source of protein for small wild cats. Yora’s food is good for bones, joints, and intestines. It has a crunchy texture and a delicious taste because it’s cooked at a low temperature.

Yora Puppy Food

Puppies can also eat Yora dog food. It provides an excellent balanced meal for all dog breeds under 12 months of age.
