Is peanut butter safe for dogs?

In general, peanut butter is safe for dogs. It contains healthy fats and proteins, but not all peanut butter is suitable for dogs. Regular peanut butter often contains added sugars, salt and artificial sweeteners such as xylitol. Xylitol is safe for people, but can cause health problems in dogs. It stimulates the release of insulin, which can cause a sudden and significant drop in blood sugar levels. This can lead to vomiting and, in severe cases, even liver failure. Therefore, choose peanut butter that has been specially developed for dogs, such as Peamutt Peanut Butter or Pawfect Peanut Butter Natural.

How much peanut butter can my dog have?

Although dogs love peanut butter, it should only be given in moderation. Peanut butter is high in calories and can lead to weight gain and other health problems. The amount depends on the size and weight of your dog. For small dogs, about half a teaspoon per day is sufficient, and for large dogs, one teaspoon per day. You can use peanut butter, for example, on a licking mat or in treat toys. Avoid peanut butter if your dog is overweight.

Peanut butter snacks

In addition to peanut butter for dogs, there are also dog snacks that contain peanut butter. Soopa Bites Banana & Peanut Butter are soft treats and ideal as a reward. For chewing enjoyment, there are the Soopa Dental Sticks Banana & Peanut Butter.
