Emergency kit? Don’t forget your pet!

Written by Noa |

As an animal lover, you hope to never end up in an emergency situation! But if it does happen, you naturally want to be well prepared to get through several days together with your pet!

dog emergency plan

Do you have enough at home for your pet to cope for several days? In an emergency, there’s no time to go to the shop or place a last-minute order. With an emergency kit, you’ll always have the essentials ready.

But how do you put your kit together?

Basic needs

Make sure your kit covers your pet’s essentials:

  1. Provide enough water in sealable bottles to last three days. Simple rule: 50 ml / kg body weight / per day.
  2. Sufficient food.
  3. A fleece blanket and a heat pad can be very useful. With the Heat Pad Jaia from Beeztees, your pet stays nice and warm.

Everything for a solid foundation

Packing the bag

In an emergency, you won’t have time to pack everything you want. It’s important to leave quickly, so choose a few key items.

For dogs, don’t forget a sturdy lead, such as the Beeztees Hondenriem Leer, and a comfortable harness, such as the Hunter Harnas.

For cats, make sure you have a good carrier and some cat litter ready.

Don’t forget the pet passport!

Medication & Supplements

Does your pet take daily medication? Keep an adequate supply at home.

It’s also helpful to have supportive supplements on hand. Our recommendations:

  1. Probiotics for digestive support
  2. Canikur for diarrhoea
  3. Otodine for ear canal cleansing
  4. Ophtosan to soothe and care for the eyes

First aid kit

A ready-made kit is very handy for first aid. The First Aid Kit Dog & Cat from Francodex is ideal for emergencies.

Add a soothing and disinfecting cream, such as Vetramil, and you’ll have everything you need at home. You can use this cream for your pet’s small wounds, and it’s handy for yourself as well.
