Emergency kit? Don’t forget your pet!

Written by N |

As an animal lover, you hope to never end up in an emergency situation! But if it does happen, you naturally want to be well prepared to get through several days together with your pet!

dog emergency plan

Do you have enough at home for your pet to survive a few days? In an emergency situation, there’s no time to go to the shop or quickly order something online. With an emergency kit, you’re always equipped with the right supplies when disaster strikes.

But how do you put together your pet’s emergency kit?

Basic needs

Make sure your emergency kit always covers your pet’s basic needs:

  1. Provide your pet with enough water in sealable bottles to last for three days. Calculate your dog’s or cat’s average water requirement with this simple formula: 50 ml / kg body weight / per day.
  2. Sufficient food.
  3. A fleece blanket and a heat pad can come in handy. With the Beeztees Jaia heat pad, your pet will stay warm and cosy.

Packing a bag

In an emergency, there’s no time to pack everything you want. It’s crucial to leave quickly! So choose a few important items in advance.

Don’t forget a strong dog leash, such as the Beeztees Leather Dog Leash, and a comfortable harness like the Hunter Harness for your dog.

For cats, it’s important to have a reliable carrier and some cat litter ready to go.

Also remember to pack your pet’s passport!

Medication & Supplements

Does your pet need daily medication? Make sure you always have enough in stock.

It’s also useful to keep some supportive supplements on hand. Here are our top five recommendations:

  1. Probiotics for digestive support
  2. Canikur for support during diarrhoea
  3. Traumeel S Drops to promote natural recovery
  4. Otodine for ear canal cleaning
  5. Ophtosan to soothe and care for the eyes

First Aid Kit

To provide first aid for pets, it’s helpful to have a ready-made kit at home. The Francodex Dog & Cat First Aid Kit or the Trixie First Aid Kit Premium are great choices for emergencies.

Complete it with a soothing and disinfecting cream like Vetramil honey ointment, and you’ll be fully prepared! This cream is ideal for treating minor wounds and is also handy for yourself!
