Aquarium and environment

Angelfish are tropical fish that require a spacious and especially tall aquarium due to their body shape. They feel most comfortable at a water temperature between 24 and 28 degrees. A calm setup with plants and sufficient hiding places helps reduce stress. Because angelfish can be territorial, enough space is important, especially when keeping multiple fish together.

Feeding

Angelfish are omnivores but prefer protein-rich food. They can be fed flakes or pellets, supplemented with frozen or live food such as bloodworms or Artemia (also known as brine shrimp). A varied diet contributes to good condition and supports their natural behaviour.

Keeping with other fish

Angelfish can be kept with other fish, provided these are not too small. Smaller fish may be seen as food. Therefore, choose species of similar size with a calm temperament. Avoid busy or fin-nipping fish, as these can cause stress.

Care

Angelfish are somewhat more sensitive to fluctuations in water quality than many other aquarium fish. Regular maintenance and stable water parameters are therefore important. They also need enough space to swim freely. Due to their long fins, they are more prone to damage, so a calm environment without sharp decorations is recommended.
