Urinary diet for cats

Bladder infections are a common issue in cats. In many cases, urinary crystals play a role. The most common type of urinary crystal in cats is struvite.

Struvite is the only type of crystal that can be dissolved with a special diet.

Struvite is the most common type of urinary crystal in cats. This type of crystal can be effectively dissolved and prevented with a special urinary diet.

Food designed to prevent struvite typically has the following properties:

  • It lowers the acidity (pH) of the urine

  • It dilutes the urine

  • It contains fewer crystal-forming minerals
